Whomever you hire make certain that they will listen to you and not just design something that they like. Make sure they keep your overall budget in mind.
Architects get between 7% to 15% or more of the total value of the project. Make sure that they will work with the builder of your choice and that they will be there promptly to solve a design problem.
Designers get 2% and up or may simply charge you per hour. There rates vary from $30 to $150 per hour.
